Tip: The routes from Köln to Trier through the Eifel, from Koblenz
along the Mosel, and along the Saar coming from Saarbrücken all run
through particularly delightful scenery.

Trier has good connections to the national and international autobahn net.
Concerning the national highways, the B51 is fully developed but includes
the risk of speed traps and much HGV traffic.
Both
the connection Saarbrücken-Trier and Koblenz-Trier are fully developed,
and in particular the last one offers great views on the Mosel.
Due to the HGV traffic the roads in the Hunsrück are less
recommendable, on the other hand, they run through a splendid
landscape.

A few shipping companies offer
cruises on the Mosel with magnificent views of world-famous vineyards,
castles and picturesque villages.
Travel time from Bernkastel about 4.5 hours.

A comfortable tour can be made on the so-called "Moselradwanderweg"
along the Mosel. More demanding tours are possible in the Eifel and
Hunsrück with gradients of over 10%. Maps can be purchased in every
good book store.
